In case you hadn’t noticed…

Make Your Move 11 is now over! Not quite the explosive ending as it sometimes was – but who cares! 146 sets in three months is just amazing, and far better than Make Your Move 10. Great job, everyone.

Voting this time will be a little different, as you all know. The process we’re going through now will also be slightly different. As usual, you post three advertisements this week to be eligible to vote, but you can also post a top ten during voting week after that, which makes you eligible to vote as well [you can do both of these things if you wish to]. So this week, advertisements, next week, voting. Remember to send your vote lists to both MasterWarlord and LegendofLink on Smash World Forums, as part of our brand-spanking new two-vote-guru-system.

Note that you have the next two weeks to read sets now, you do not need to rush reading or cram in your vote list as soon as you can. Take it slow if you want to, there’s no shame at all in taking the full voting week to form a vote list.

And with that, been a good Make Your Move, guys. In a month, LegendofLink will be opening Make Your Move 12 and I’ll be passing over the absolutely humongous OP responsibilities to him. Until then, though, I’ll enjoy my time as the guy with the gold avatar in the MYM chat. Prosper well and live.

Since Junahu is too busy writing his story mode (which will likely be level-focused and feature Chief Quimby as a tutor character), Dave is performing a hostile takeover in terms of minis. Yes.

This week’s mini, in honor of Thanksgiving, is based around two concepts: eating or food. Either may be focused on, make an extra for a big eater or a savory-looking piece of food, make extras that encourage the act of eating, what you do with this one is up to you.

Of course, don’t forget you will still be able to submit entires for last week’s mini, Clowns, until Tuesday. This is due to the delayed start of said mini.

Howdy, hoes? You’re stuck with me for 2 things now, apparently! Don’t like it? Too bad.

Your mini this week is short, sweet and to-the-point: make me something clown-related. Anything qualifies here, so long as it relates to clowns in some way.

Due to the late start of this MYMini, you have up to next Tuesday, the 22nd, to get your minis in. The new mini will be announced in the Recap, with an additional post on the Stadium.

Firstly, I’d like to say that we’ve been given a much better selection for the fifth leader than we ever could’ve hoped, with pretty much all of the potential candidates getting quite competitive with increased set output in some cases, commentry in others, with even Khold joining the race as a very viable candidate. The candidate we’ve picked has been one for a time, though, and his commentary has vastly improved since he was at his camp, where he still managed to pump out many, many movesets. If anything, this period has only helped to prove LegendofLink‘s consistency, and as such we have rewarded him with the fifth leadership position.

As for the vote gurus, yes, Smady has chosen to step down from the position after all of this controversy and the errors he has admitted to. Yes, I said vote gurus as in plural – you’ll be required to send in your votes both to me and LegendofLink when top 50 time rolls around. If you want to accuse me of something with the vote totals, you’ll be accusing him of collaborating with me, and with the two of us to check each other’s math there should be minimal room for error.

Announcements Return?

If you’re reading this, it means Make Your Move 11 has been posted and the fun times have truly begun. Make Your Move’s eleventh outing comes after almost four years of contests, intermittently at first, but eventually branching out into a community that mostly dates back to around three years ago with Make Your Move 3. As time has gone on, everyone has become a lot closer, the competition has become a lot fiercer and many movesets have been created in the name of great science. What began as a seed planted by one crazy man has grown into a strong and, as of today, bustling society.

Make Your Move means different things to different people. For me, this contest holds a special meaning, being the OP and all. The first time I put my hand to being OP in Make Your Move 7, things went more than a little pear-shared. But it’s not really that which makes this more meaningful to me – it’s that I’ve come to this position right in the middle of an absolutely fascinating period in our history as a community and contest. Truly, I can’t wait to see how we improve our showings from last contest. I think this could be the Make Your Move to remember, and I’m absolutely proud to be here.

Leader-what?

Leadership can get a little stagnant when the same methods and people are used over-and-over to decide who is coming in. This is no truer than in recent times, when a lot of old leaders simply recycle into the team, meaning that we get a repeat of past contests almost exactly, where opinions clash in the same way and it all becomes very boring and predictable: nothing actually changes. That is why leadership is opening up its fifth slot – previously known as its mystery slot – to you, the newcomers, in a little bit of friendly competition.

The idea is simple: we keep the slot open, to fill with a newcomer halfway through Make Your Move 11 (so around mid-November). A newcomer being someone who hasn’t been in leadership before. We’re going to be deciding this as a group, but what we’re looking for primarily is activity. If you can post a lot of movesets, comments and keep their quality consistently up, you have a big chance of scoring big and getting into leadership. For one thing, whoever has the most points on my User Rankings by the time of voting will have my support.

The reason the time frame is a little vague is because we just don’t know what will happen. If you guys are all around the same consistency by then, we will have to discuss more critically about our options. On the other hand, it could be very obvious who has achieved the most in the contest and therefore be a no-brainer.

Once we’ve selected the fifth leader, they will take their place in the leadership immediately, even participating in the top fifty manipulation process. That’s right, even you could be picking Linebeck off the top fifty come voting period! And don’t forget that lovely white icon you get in the chatroom, and the ability to talk in a far lower tone of voice. Oh, the fun we’ll have!

As you may have noticed, MYM has been in a little bit of a mess recently, what with the craziness of a new blog cropping up out of nowhere.

Well, people from both sides of the problem have come together and come to a very happy solution;

The Stadium, the place you are right now, will become a news hub. It will feature announcements from the Leadership, along with frequently updated MYM11 Movesets and MYM11 MYminis pages. The plan it to make for a much more streamlined experience for all those MYMers who just want to check up on the newest movesets. It will also feature some other helpful bits and bobs.

On the other side of the pond, The Bunker, which is [HERE], will serve as a complete archive and community capital. The Bunker is where you want to be in order to read articles, reviews, or check up on old movesets/minis.

Which brings me to this; I would like everyone who has posted an article on the Stadium recently, to move/copy it over to the Bunker. If you aren’t already an author on the Bunker, you’ll need to drop me your E-mail address so I can add you in. Once everyone has migrated their articles, we can begin cleaning the Stadium and prepping it for its new purpose. Thank you very much
